Common Redshank - Tringa totanus

Pictures by Ray Tipper - More about Ray...

The Common Redshank is essentially restricted to the salt pans of the Algarve. The small breeding population is enhanced by migrants from the north in winter. Its strident alarm calls are characteristic of this sentinel of the wetlands.
