Grey Plover - Pluvialis squatarola

The Grey Plover is a widespread in the Algarve where it finds ideal conditions in the estuaries and along the coastline. Shown below is the winter plumage; in summer the birds display a black face and breast. The specimens shown on this page were photographed near Tavira.
