This bright green and yellow finch is a common resident throughout the Algarve inhabiting gardens, parks, orchards and open land. Its comparatively large, conical-shaped bill reflects its mainly seed-eating diet. Song a loud, nasal dweeej usually followed by a short series of twittering notes delivered from a high perch or in a display flight comprising exaggerated, slow wing-beats.
