Cormorant - Phalacrocorax carbo

Pictures - John Foss

Cormorants nest on coastal rocks and sometimes in trees on inland lakes. These large birds are identified by their white cheek patches, and
they also have a white wing patch during the breeding season. They live solely on fish.

The specimens on this page were photographed drying their wings at Ribeira do Almagem at Cabanas De Tavira (bottom) at low tide, and at Vilamoura Marina Portugal.
