In keeping with their common name Bee-eaters live on bees and wasps making this beautiful bird very unpopular with the Algarve's numerous bee-keepers. These summer visitors to the Algarve from Africa arrive in spring and are a common sight around the Alvor estuary where these specimens were photographed.
