Sanderlings are delightful company on a beach walk as they scurry along ahead keeping a very precise distance away. They feed by running in and out of the surf catching the small creatures revealed as a large wave retreats. The specimens on this page were photographed at Cabanas De Tavira, but they can be found all along the Algarve coastline.
